Pre-Engineering students joined design and engineering prototype development of Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology at National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Pathum Thani

CISAT Pre-Engineering students joined design and engineering prototype development of Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology training at Thailand Science Park Convention Center, Pathum Thani, on April 23rd - 25th, 2019. This training was supported by A-MED from NSTDA.

Teacher Pitchet Khowtrakul, teacher Sittisak Yeeyuan, and teacher Rattapon Suyawong were invited to lead the students for joining this training in 2 topics:

  1. Lift system for a disabled person in 6-wheeled truck project was instructed by Mr. Annop Saekow, Mr. Pongpranote Songsangterm, Miss Proawravee Kanjanaprachot, and Mr. Kantapat Rakwongthai.
  2. Automatic wheelchair development project was instructed by Mr. Anantawat Pangsanit, and Mr. Donlachai Kruearunrat.

The projects’ data were collected by using Design Thinking framwork in pre-engineering project 2 from disabled students of Srisangwan Chiang Mai School.

This training aimed to prepare the students to join Global Student Innovation Challenge for Assistive Technology (gSIC-AT) on May 22nd, 2019.

The activities were including:

  • The lecture “The way from an engineering Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology inventor to an entrepreneur of innovation and technology for elders” by teacher Wantanee Phantachat, Senior Director of A-MED.
  • The guidance “Global Student Innovation Challenge for Assistive Technology (gSIC-AT)’s criteria” by Dr. Pasu Sirisalee.
  • Thinking and solving guidance for devices, products, and services design by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chujit Treerattanaphan, Associate Dean for Research School of Architecture and Design, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.
  • Sharing experience from gSIC-AT senior competitors.
  • Preparation activity for project presentation by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Tiranee Achalakul, Associate Dean for Educational Development Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.

The training result showed that pre-engineering staffs and students got the suggestions for invention and innovation development, design thinking, and presentation. Moreover, these suggestions were able to adapt for education and competition.
